Hello everyone! Anna-Karin here with you today to share a quick art journaling page, made with Tim Holtz dies. I am in a spring mood, and this page is all about nature.

Sometimes you might want to hide what you write on an art journal page, or you might have too much to write so that it won’t fit (that is often a problem for me). Then a pocket is a great solution and here I made one with the Pocket Envelope die. This pocket also works great on a scrapbooking page for journaling or add it to a card for a fun interactive element.

I die cut leaves and butterflies using the Spring Greenery and Butterfly Frenzy dies and Tim Holtz 8 x 8 papers. The shapes were glued to the page.

Covered the die cuts with gesso and press an embossed paper into the gesso to add texture.

When dry, the page was painted with Distress Paint. I also painted the opposite page, even though I wasn’t planning to do anything with that page today.

Mist the page with Biscotti Perfect Pearls for shine.

When dry, stamp here and there with a text stamp and Fern Green Archival Ink. I didn’t mount the stamp on an acrylic block.

The Pocket Envelope was die cut from kraft cardstock and stamped with Fern Green and Gathered Twigs.

The background has a great organic feel to it, with the die cuts, embossed paper impressions, paint, mist and stamping. A few butterflies were added to the page, one of them on top of a butterfly in the background.

I dyed cheesecloth with Distress Ink, die cut leaves with the Garden Greens die and cut out a bird and some words from Menagerie 8 x 8 patterned paper. Tuck your journaling into the pocket and you are done.

Thank you for looking!

Happy crafting!

Anna-Karin

I love papercrafting and creating beautiful things out of only die cuts, stamps, paper, and ink. One of my favourite things is trying out old and new techniques, so many possibilities. My hands are ink stained almost daily. Find me on my blog: www.layersofink.blogspot.com
